Rome - Italy

Rome, the Eternal City where every stone tells more than two thousand years of history, calls for a particular photographic approach to escape the crowds that fill the Colosseum and Roman Forum from opening time. I always favor daybreak to photograph these ancient ruins: the low morning light enhances the millennia-old stones and creates compositions impossible to achieve during the day, when crowds gather in front of every monument.

This early morning discipline also lets me discover the real face of Rome — the popular neighborhoods like Trastevere slowly waking up, the markets and cafés where Romans still gather before the tourist influx. My goal is to capture the authenticity of this city, both monumental and intimate, between ancient ruins, Italian way of life and everyday scenes often overlooked by hurried visitors.
